Rolling cutter and its gear making principle

Roll cutting gears belong to the generating method, and the tool used is a rolling cutter (as shown in the above figure). The rolling cutter and the machined gear are equivalent to a pair of helical gears that are forced to mesh without backlash.

Hobbing has high productivity and good universality in processing, which can process both cylindrical gears and worm gears; It can process involute tooth profiles, as well as circular arcs, cycloids and other tooth profiles; It can also process large modulus gears and large-diameter gears. Therefore, gear hobbing is currently the most widely used gear machining method.
