Structure and Working Principle:

Structure: It consists of a straight row of equally spaced teeth, similar to a spur gear but in a linear form. It works in conjunction with a pinion, a small cylindrical gear that meshes with the gear rack.

Working Principle: As the pinion rotates, it drives the gear rack to move in a linear direction. In a stair lift, the rotation of the pinion is usually driven by a motor. As the pinion rotates, the gear rack moves along the track of the stair lift, causing the lift seat and the rider to move along the track, thus achieving the upward and downward movement of the stair lift.
